Week 7 (Week of April 28)
Focus: The Conclusion of the Story – Wilbur’s Journey to the Fair & Charlotte’s Legacy (Chapters 19–22)
For Teachers (In-Class Reading Time):
Reading: Read Chapters 19–22 with the class, focusing on Wilbur’s journey to the fair and the continuation of Charlotte’s legacy.
Goal: Discuss the resolution of the story and how the characters’ actions affect the outcome.
For Parents (At-Home Activity):
Activity: Visual and Auditory Connections
After the chapters are read in class, have your child draw or create a visual representation of an important scene from the story (e.g., Wilbur at the fair) and narrate it aloud.Materials Needed: Drawing supplies, word cards, and sound-to-symbol charts.
Goal: Improve auditory discrimination and visual storytelling while strengthening the connection between sounds and letters.
Steps to Follow:
Ask your child to draw a scene from the book, such as Wilbur at the fair or Charlotte’s web.
As they draw, encourage them to narrate the scene aloud using words from the book (e.g., “Wilbur won a prize at the fair”).
You can also have them act out the scene to reinforce the narrative.
Review Key Vocabulary: Go over important words from the story and ask your child to use them in their narration to practice blending and pronunciation.
