At The Native School, our evidence-based program believes children learn best by doing, wondering, and discovering. Since opening our doors in 2011, we’ve dedicated ourselves to nurturing children through meaningful, nature-rich education within the context of the great outdoors. Inspired by Reggio Emilia principles, we honor the “hundred languages” of children—the endless ways children think, express themselves, and make sense of the world.

Our professional teaching team and postgraduate interns facilitate an emergent curriculum grounded by California State Standards and a strong understanding of developmental needs. Our frameworks prioritize students' interests over adult presented content.

Our evidence-based approach is proven to build strong academic foundations in literacy, math, science, and more—all while staying connected to the natural world. By the time students complete our program, they leave confident, capable, and often thriving well above traditional grade-level expectations.

More importantly, students move into the world with a self understood resilience, built in large part by their experiential childhood experiences in nature.
